| Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight championship bout between reigning champion Jojo Bardon and No. 2 contender Bert Gawat which is promoted by the Blue Stallion Promotions of Congressman Erbie A. Fabian this December 8, 2006 at the Zamboanga City Coliseum. The 64-slambang rounds of boxing will also feature two 10-rounder, two six-rounder and five four-rounder. According to Rep. Fabian, the boxing extravaganza, the first in Zamboanga City after a lull of almost 30 years, is aimed in reviving boxing and bringing to fore the best there is in Asia’s Latin City. Erbie recalled the days when Zamboanga City hit it big when it comes to boxing, producing top caliber boxers like Star Flores, Rocky Kalingo, Young Terror, Al Espinosa, Tom Rico, Little Frisco, Young Pedring, the Gallego brothers, Flash, Little and Baby, Ben Villaflor and many more. The congressman from Zamboanga City could vividly recall when as a youngster, he would hear and even get to see our boxers take on any comers from Manila and far distant shore.
