2 killed in bike crash

Two men were killed after their motorcycle crashed on the road along Gov. Ramos Road in Sta. Maria last Sunday night.

 

Killed were Melito Baro and Renante Veloso, both residents of Sta. Maria.

 
Lobregat awards lot owners in S. Roque

Mayor Celso Lobregat will preside over today the awarding of entry passes, contracts to sell and certificates of fully updated payment to lot owners and beneficiaries of the Zamboanga Greenfield Resettlement Project.

The implementation of the Greenfield Resettlement Project in barangay San Roque is part of the city government’s program on housing and resettlement.

 
Village chief lodges complaint against election officer’s wife

Salaan Barangay Chairman Araceli Francisco lost her cool and engaged in a heated argument with an employee of the City Election Office yesterday in a noontime confrontation in connection with their complaint of displacement of voters in two precincts in Salaan.

 

Francisco told DZT that she and other barangay officials of Salaan together with their affected constituents went to the office of City Election Officer Jesus Posadas of District 2 to bring the matter of the displacement of some 500 registered voters from Precincts 1214A and 1215A in Salaan proper to Sitio Baluno which is several kilometers away and near the city’s watershed.

 
Monsi stands firm with offer of friendship

Nuevo Zamboanga mayoralty candidate Cris “Monsi” Dela Cruz yesterday said that no matter what his opponent calls him in a negative way, he will stand firm with his offer of friendship and forgiveness.

Dela Cruz stressed that he considers Mayor Celso Lobregat and other detractors as his friends.

“It is not an eye for an eye but it is a love for a love,” he declared.

 
Army sarge shot dead

An army soldier was shot dead by one of two motorcycle riding gunmen at Jumbo Bridge in Guiwan at dawn last Sunday.

Police identified the fatality as MSgt. Eduardo Messiona who was assigned at Camp Enrile, Malagutay and a resident of Pasonanca.

 
Police chief needs military help in poll duties
ZAMBOANGA Peninsula Police Director Jaime Caringal has requested the assistance of the military to secure the conduct of May 14 elections in the different parts of the region, especially in areas of immediate concerns.

Caringal said they need the assistance of military troops to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections in at least six areas within his area of jurisdiction.
