Politicians should love Mother Earth, say poll officials
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) is spearheading the removal of campaign materials posted on trees in this city in line with the celebration of the World Earth Day next week.

District I election officer Roy Cuevas said the removal of campaign materials will last for three days from April 24 to 26 to be able to cover all areas in his district.
 
Mayor unveils P4M Sinoropan road
CITY Mayor Celso Lobregat spearheaded the inauguration of the P4 million Texas-Sinoropan road project in barangay Licomo Wednesday, barely a month after he inspected and ordered its swift implementation.

Lobregat said the 630 linear meter farm to market road which links Zamboanga City to Siocon and Sirawai in Zamboanga del Norte is a dream come true for the residents whose main livelihood is farming.
 
Household wastewater good for growing vegetables
HOUSEHOLD wastewater, consisting of wash water from the kitchen, laundry and bathroom called "gray water" and human wastewater (urine), can be used for watering and fertilizing vegetables in the backyard.

In a study conducted by researchers of the Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology in Los Baños, Laguna and Aquatic Biosystems in Bay, Laguna, it was reported at the International Seminar-Workshop on Integrated Water Resources Management held at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City that applying up to 20% concentration of kitchen wastewater for watering mustard (Brassica juncea), a common vegetable, gave as good a yield as that with tap water (control) alone.
 
Suspect who molested 14-year-old niece arrested
THE local police have arrested a 42-year-old driver for allegedly sexually molesting his 14-year-old niece on separate occasions in Barangay Mampang, east of this city.

Arrested was Joven Bayjunan, a resident of the said place. He was arrested Tuesday night in Barangay Mampang.
 
CHO warns against waterborne diseases

City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos has advised the public anew to take necessary precautions in preventing water borne diseases in the wake of an increasing trend of the disease in the city the past weeks.

"We continuously advise the public to boil drinking water prior to consumption,"
Agbulos said. "We also urge them to practice proper waste disposal and environmental sanitation in additional to practicing water purification".

 
Comelec urges aggrieved bets: File charges vs. survey groups
The Commission on Elections has urged aggrieved candidates to file a complaint against survey groups for not complying with the Comelec's rules and regulations on the release of survey results.

District 1 election officer Roy Cuevas said that the Tincungco Group of Research­ers and Statfacts-WMSU have been releasing survey results for several times now without complying with the Comelec’s rules and regulations.
