GERKY VALESCO, District I council bet of the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) yesterday commended the men and women of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Zamboanga City Chapter under its Administrator Vic Liozo Jr. for being a good partner of the city government and the city residents as well. Valesco said that over the years the PNRC has saved thousands of lives in terms of providing the needed blood to patients whether rich or poor.
The council bet expressed gratitude to the men and women of the agency for being in the forefront in trying to salvage the lives of patients particularly those who need blood. Liozo, at the same time, disclosed that Valesco is one of nine Zamboangueños who would be awarded today by the PNRC in connection with their meritorious services extended to the said agency. According to Liozo, Valesco will receive the plaque of commendation from the PNRC for successfully directing two major concerts that the agency had sponsored. The PNRC official said that Valesco directed "Orgullo de Zamboanga- concert with performers Mark Velasco, Armarie Cruz, Ira Johnson, Jimboy and Sal Mae Calisang and the Concierto 2002 with local singers performing. Liozo said that the awarding will be held at the PNRC Training Center at 9 a.m. Liozo also thanked general manager Bin Lin of Demak Motors for giving to their office one brand new motorcycle. He said the vehicle would be used to deliver blood supplies. The PNRC administrator also thanked the Tsu Tzi Foundation for donating one computer which will be used as blood directory, Mr. Nickson Go for donating four base radio units and Mindpro City Mall through Boy To for turning over four hand held radio sets to their office. According to Liozo, one of the highlights of the program would be the unveiling of the photographs of the past and present board chairmen of the PNRC which will be held at the board room.
