AN OFFICIAL of the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) admitted that the ZCWD management is not yet ready to lift the water-rationing scheme in the city.
ZCWD Assistant General Manager Alejo Rojas, Jr. said the water level at the ZCWD's dam remain below normal despite the rains experience in this city's water shed areas the past days.
Rojas said the latest measurement of the water level is 73.90 meters, which is lower by .30 meters from normal. The normal water level is 74.20 meters. He said they will immediately lift the water rationing scheme once the water supply will reach the normal level and stabilizes. He urged the water concessionaires in this city to bear with the inconveniences brought about by the water rationing since they come up with the measures to be able to serve all of them. Some of the areas, especially in the highland barangays, only enjoys the service of ZCWD at a minimum of four hours daily while the rest at eight hours a day. To augment the water supply, the ZCWD has commissioned two water tankers to deliver drinking water in areas that have only four hours a daily water supply.
