THE Philippine Airlines (PAL) launched Monday afternoon the country's flag carrier new Mabuhay Class Service between Manila and this city and vice-versa using the brand-new Airbus A319/A320 aircraft.
PAL president and chief operating officer (CEO) Jaime Bautista led the top airlines officials in Monday afternoon's ceremony being then guest speaker on the occasion.
The aircraft, A319/A320, is a 134-seater plane that PAL bought to boost its service to the riding public. The launching marks the landing of the aircraft shortly after 4 p.m. Monday in Zamboanga City.
Albert Bangayan of PAL's Zamboanga Branch office said the entry of the new aircraft would boost the services the company is rendering to the city in particular and the region in general.
The Zamboanga International Airport serves as the major air route for travelers coming from the different parts of the entire Region 9 to key cities in the country like Manila, Cebu, and Davao.
PAL was recently cited by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as the first and only Philippine carrier thus far to hurdle the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), the internationally accepted benchmark for global safety management in airlines.
