THE Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) is launching a campaign against the illegal use of booster pumps by water concessionaires in this city.
ZCWD Assistant General Manager Alejo Rojas, Jr. said it is required that a permit is needed to be secured from ZCWD before any water concessionaire could install and use the gadget.
Aside from that, there is also a requirement on how to install the booster pump, so as not to affect or interrupt the water service of their neighbors, according to Rojas.
He said anybody found using booster pump without the necessary permit from ZCWD will be subjected to fines and other penalties.
Many of the water concessionaires resorted to the use of booster pumps every time the ZCWD implements water rationing to be able to quickly store water on overhead tanks.
The water-rationing scheme has been implemented since February after the water level at the ZCWD dam reached below normal.
