Residents in the remote villages of Lubigan, Dita Panubigan and Quiniput in the east coast have assured to deliver the 11-0 goal of the Lobregat led Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) in District II during the May 14 synchronized and local and national elections. These assurances were made by the residents when re-electionists Mayor Celso Lobregat, Congressman Erbie Fabian (District II), Vice Mayoralty aspirant Mila Velasquez and the 8 LDP council aspirants barnstormed the four barangays Tuesday. The campaign sortie involved house to house campaign, a series of pulong-pulung (meetings) in Lubigan, Dita and Panubigan and a late evening rally that was attended by hordes of people in Quiniput.
The LDP’s 8 council aspirants are Councilors Asi Edding, Kim Elago, Cesar Iturralde, Roel Natividad, Rey Candido, Nonong Guingona and newcomers Lilia Nuno and Eddie Saavedra. Rebuan Abdulkarim, Sarabi Hussin, Abraham Magasa and Primitivo Paragas, barangay chairmen of Lubigan, Dita, Panubigan and Quiniput respectively were one in saying that their constituents strongly believe that the Lobregat led LDP is the only party that will bring about development and progress to Zamboanga. All of them claimed that the Lobregat administration has performed remarkably citing the millions worth of infrastructure projects implemented in their individual barangays that helped alleviate the plight of their constituents. A total of P9.86 million worth of projects were implemented in the four barangays under the Lobregat administration. Barangay Dita shares P2.3 million of the total allocation, Lubigan has P1.1 million, Panubigan has P1.150 million while Quiniput shares P5.2 million. The P2.3 million allocation for Dita was used for the rehabilitation of the barangay hall (P500,000), improvement of farm to market road ( P1.250 million), rehabilitation of health center (P80,000) and concreting of road (P500,000). In Lubigan the projects include concreting of road (P500,000), rehabilitation of health center (P100,000) and improvement of farm to market road (P500,000). The construction of four bowl comfort room (P100,000), construction of slope protection (P300,000) and improvement of farm to market road (P750,000) are among the projects allocated for Panubigan totaling to P1.150 million. In Quiniput the projects include construction of box culvert (P1.021 million), rehabilitation/expansion of hospital kitchen (P288,000), rehabilitation of footbridge (P180,000), concreting of road in Campo Uno (P750,000), construction/ rehabilitation of irrigation structure ( P1.05 million), construction of slope protection (P250,000), construction of hospital fence (P500,000) and improvement of farm to market road (P1.250 million). Barangay Lubigan during the past three elections supported Lobregat’s rivals but this year, Abdulkarim said, his constituents are pooling efforts to ensure the victory of Mayor Lobregat and his entire LDP team. He stressed that the residents have realized the efforts being exerted by the present administration. “We want the programs and plans of the present administration to continue.” “It will be zero (votes) for the other camp,” Lubigan residents attending the pulung-pulong at the barangay hall declared. Meanwhile, Dita chairman Sarabi Hussin said his constituents are also putting in their support to the entire LDP team in District II. “It will be 11-0 in favor of the LDP in Dita on May 14,” Hussin said in the Yakan dialect. Magasa and Paragas echoed the testimonies of the Lubigan and Dita officials saying that they their constituents are also satisfied with the performance of the present administration and thus help ensure the victory of the Lobregat led party. And as a manifestation of their support, the folks from the four villages showed force in their attendance in the LDP rally in Quiniput that capped the party’s campaign sortie Tuesday. (PR)
