AN ABU Sayyaf suspect died apparently from heart attack few hours after he was re-captured on Friday offshore Zamboanga City, the military reported here.
The Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) reported Saturday that Sandico Sadae died upon arrival at the military hospital in this city where he was rushed following complaints of severe chest pain.
The NFWM said Sadae was arrested last Tuesday in the province of Tawi-Tawi on the strength of warrants of arrest issued by the court. He was tagged as one of those involved in the 2000 Sipadan kidnapping in Sabah, Malaysia, and has two standing warrants of arrests. The NFWM reported that Sadae tried to escape on Friday by jumping overboard a Navy boat in between Basilan and Zamboanga City that was transporting him at that time from Tawi-Tawi to this city. Sadae was re-captured before nightfall on the same day by Navy personnel who combed the sea with the used of rubber boats and other types of watercrafts. He complained of severe chest pains few moments after his arrival at the Navy headquarters in this city, according to the NFWM. The NFWM reported that the attending physicians at the hospital declared Sadae dead on arrival.
