ONE of the largest real estate companies in the country, Filinvest Land, Inc., has decided to put up a multi-million investment in Zamboanga through an exclusive residential subdivision named Villa San Ignacio in Tumaga citing the cities flourishing and blooming economy.

“Zamboanga is in good hands under the stewardship of Mayor Celso Lobregat and that I think is the selling point of Zamboanga now –having a good city mayor, giving the investors like us the good confidence that we will be very successful here in the city.” Tristan Las Marias, FLI vice president for regional projects declared.

Villa San Ignacio the first ever exclusive and master-planned residential subdivision broke ground yesterday morning with Andrew Gotianum, FLI Vice President, Las Marias, Mayor Celso Lobregat and Filinvest co-partners Winifred and Anton Mari Lim leading the ceremonies.

The subdivision, the Spanish-Mediterranean-themed compliments Zamboanga’s new branding as “Asia’s Latin City”.

Las Marias in his message said the Villa San Ignacio, named after the patron saint of the Ateneo, is just the beginning of more development projects with the continuing growth of the Zamboanga City economy and the continuing support of the local government unit.

“Zamboanga has the potentials to be one of those top cities to attract business investments here in the country,” he stressed.

Mayor Lobregat, meanwhile, said the ground breaking ceremonies yesterday showed the support to the city’s thrust to move development to the outskirts of the city is snowballing.

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU), locate beside the Villa San Ignacio, has started expanding its operation outside of the city last year, he said.

“We are honored that this project is being ground broken under our administration,” Lobregat said.

The company, according to Las Marias intends to offer quality subdivision developments, true to all its projects and accomplishments. It is a multi-line residential real estate developer, as it endeavors into almost everything –malls, commercial centers, resort projects, first class subdivisions, upper middle income subdivisions and socialized projects.

The flourishing and booming economy of the city, the all out support from the local administration and the potential market are among the factors that brought Filinvest to Zamboanga.

Las Marias recounted that the plan to put investments in Zamboanga started a few years ago. The finalization of the plan has to coincide with finding business partners, the area for the development of the subdivision and the response of the local government unit.

“It has gone to appoint that it (Zamboanga) is very conducive for business investment,” Las Marias said adding: “of course there is the security issue but with our current local government that is not a concern to any business investments, they are handling it pretty well and that gives a lot of confidence for people like us.”

The Villa San Ignacio is a joint venture with the Lim brothers of Zamboanga City.

Filinvest has been in existence for the last 40 years and its business is concentrated in Metro Manila and some parts of Visayas like Cebu and Davao in Mindanao. It has an asset base of almost P40 billion.

The ground breaking started with motorcade and followed by a short program at their location site. Mayor Celso Lobregat gave his words at the opening of the program.

“This is a signal that investors find Zamboanga City as a good place to put an investment like the Villa San Ignacio,” said Mayor Celso Lobregat during his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony. According to him this may also serve as a good start wherein many businessmen would also invest in our city.

The program was immediately followed by the Capsule Laying, done by businessman Andrew Tan, Tristan Las Marias, Winifred Lim and Dr. Anton Mari Lim of Filinvest Land Inc. and City Mayor Celso Lobregat. The “Open House” was followed in the afternoon for possible clients of Villa San Ignacio.
