A local businessman engaged in barter trading business was shot to death yesterday afternoon by two unidentified assailants riding tandem on a single motorcycle right in front of his residence at Salazar Subdivision, Barangay Talon-Talon, this city.
Tetuan Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Hado Edding identified the victim as Fredesvindo Impe y Fernandez, 41, married, and a resident of the said place.
He sustained a single gunshot wound on his left head and exit wound on the right portion that caused his instantaneous death.
The victim died upon his arrival at the Zamboanga Doctor’s Hospital.
Edding told Zamboanga Today that the victim came from a store located about 10 meters from their house and while he was about to enter the gate, one of the suspects suddenly approached him and without any provocation shot him twice.
He added that crime witnesses claimed that the suspects were armed with a .45 caliber revolver but “still they (witnesses) refused to give full details regarding the identity of the suspects,” says Edding.
Initial investigation conducted disclosed that the motive of the incident is allegedly due to personal grudge.
A follow-up investigation was conducted by the local policemen to establish the identity of the suspects as well as their whereabouts. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
