Salaan Barangay Chairman Araceli Francisco lost her cool and engaged in a heated argument with an employee of the City Election Office yesterday in a noontime confrontation in connection with their complaint of displacement of voters in two precincts in Salaan.

Francisco told DZT that she and other barangay officials of Salaan together with their affected constituents went to the office of City Election Officer Jesus Posadas of District 2 to bring the matter of the displacement of some 500 registered voters from Precincts 1214A and 1215A in Salaan proper to Sitio Baluno which is several kilometers away and near the city’s watershed.

She said they were supposed to talk to Posadas to clarify the matter before election day in order for the people to be able to vote in Salaan proper instead of going to far away Baluno which is not their community.

Instead of seeing the election officer, Francisco was referred by the City Election Office personnel to Maricor Posadas, Jesus Posadas’ wife, who is a clerk in the same office.

Francisco said that instead of talking nicely to her and the barangay officials present, Maricor Posadas raised her voice triggering an exchange of harsh words.

She said that Mrs. Posadas bragged that she is not afraid of any official from whom the barangay officials will seek assistance about the matter. The confrontation only  eased down when both parties were pacified by their respective companions.

Francisco said she will forward a complaint to the Comelec central against Mrs. Posadas who was allegedly “irrational and erratic” in dealing with public officials and ordinary people going to their office seeking for clarifications

DZT tried to get in touch with Election Officer Jesus Posadas to get his side on the incident but his mobile phone would not response.

Raffy Luna, a member of the Comelec Monitoring Team from Manila Office who was in Jolo, Sulu yesterday, said that he will bring the case to Comelec Regional Director Atty. Helen Aguila Flores as Posadas is set to be transferred to another area as he was affected by the reshuffling of election officers in the region
