A minor was arrested by the police at dawn yesterday after he was caught removing the posters of mayoralty candidate Monsi Cris Dela Cruz at the intersection of Gov. Camins and Veterans Avenue in this city, but was later released after Dela Cruz forgave him for his misdeeds.
The Tetuan police identified the boy as Randy Galvez y Uro, 12, of Boalan, this City.
Seized from Galvez possession were five sacks of Monsi’s posters.
During investigation the boy disclosed that a traffic aide ordered him to remove the posters at around 1 a.m.
Dela Cruz disclosed that his brother Atty. Michael Dela Cruz red-handedly caught Galvez tearing Monsi’s posters pasted along the island at the said intersection and immediately reported the incident to the police for proper action.
According to Dela Cruz, his brother even had a video clipping of the incident, which he showed to police investigators.
“I know who are behind the incident, but I will not blame them, I even forgave the boy for his actions. I told the police to release the minor immediately because I have no intention to file a case against him anyway,” Dela Cruz said.
Dela Cruz said somebody gave the information to his brother, the reason why he was there during the incident.
The former priest stressed that he is not a vindictive person as he vowed to give love in exchange for insults.
As judgement day approaches, Dela Cruz calls on the electorates to be open-minded.
“If the voters think that Zamboanga City has no sense of direction, then I offer a better alternative,” Dela Cruz pointed out. (Nonong Santiago)
