THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) reshuffled some of its key officers in the different parts of the region with only a few days before the May 14 elections.
Comelec Regional Director Helen Aguila-Flores said four elections officers were removed from their respective posts and were given new assignments in other places of the region.
Included in the reshuffle are Roy Cuevas and Jesus Posadas of this city's first and second districts, respectively. Cuevas will be replaced by Atty. Rogel Bengua, the election officer of Sibutad, Zamboanga del Norte while Posadas will be replaced by election officer Isidro Labrador Jr. of Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur. Cuevas will be reassigned as election officer of Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay, while Posadas moved to Molave, Zamboanga del Sur, according to Flores. Cuevas, formerly connected with the Civil Service Commission, served as the election officer of this city's first district since 1998 while Posadas, who came from Comelec regional office, has been the second district election officer since 2004. It was not immediately known who will replace Bengua and Labrador as the elections officers of Sibutad and Dumalinao, respectively. Flores said the reshuffle of election officers is not only being done in the region but also in the different parts the country. She said the reshuffle of poll officers as election nears is to prevent accusations of biases from politicians on the day of the elections.
