Thirty-four of the 37 barangays under District 1 are supporting Nuevo Zamboanga’s District 1 congressional candidate Dr. Eldigario Gonzales’ congressional plan particularly the one that is barangay-focused.

In a resolution signed by the 34 barangay chairmen from District 1 (west coast), they requested at least P 1 million for their infrastructure projects from Gonzales’ Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) once he will sit in Congress.

The barangay leaders said the 1st Congressional District of Zamboanga City is motivated by the need to hasten the development of the West Coast barangays and to fasttrack the delivery of various services to its people.

Earlier, Gonzales said his congressional plan will be equitable and more focused on poverty alleviation and development of the different barangays in Zamboanga City.

If elected as congressman this May 14 election, Gonzales said he will consider appropriating 50% of the P 70 million PDAF that each congressman gets per year for infrastructure projects of the 37 barangays in District 1.

After learning of Gonzales’ congressional plan, the District 1 barangay chairmen initiated the passage of a resolution to support Gonzales on the matter.

Among those who signed the resolution are barangay chairmen Jaime Rebollos of San Jose Cawa-Cawa, Luciano Arquiza of Pasonanca, Rolando Gregorio of Calarian,  Rolly Samson of Canelar, Datu Ahmad Sampang of Campo Islam, Carmelo Miranda of Sto. Nino, Salvador del Mundo of La Paz, Bensito Ungab of Cawit, Alexis Ortega of Ayala, Taib Tawasil of Mariki, Herman Gorit of Limpapa, Charlito Sumbrana of Tulungatung, Francisco Santos of Labuan, Antonio Jose of San Jose Gusu, Antonio Deles of Camino Nuevo, Mauro Feliciano of San Roque, Tito Espiritusanto of Zone 3,  Josefina Pareja of Talisayan, Justo Lacandalo of Sta. Maria, Noel Aranas of Zone 2, Edwina Jalon Francisco of Cabatangan, Juanito Rojas of Maasin, Francisco Macias of Baliwasan, Emerita Caringal of Malagutay, Boy Aminula of Recodo, Mario Roca of Sinunuc, Tomas Tarroza of Baluno, Virgilio Alejandro of Dulian, Upper Pasonanca, Rizalino Bustamante of Patalon, Ramon Soler of Sinubong, Pilarito Carpio of Pamucutan, Abraham Sakandal of Zone IV, and Tahir Ahiyani of Rio Hondo.

“I’m glad these barangay chairmen have agreed to my grand design of how I can help them as my commitment is barangay-focused,”  Gonzales said as he signed in conforme the resolution.

“I know many barangay officials have benefited from our (WMSU) extension programs to the barangays under the Universidad Para La Comunidad vision we have. And they know that I don’t give mere promises but results and outputs,” Gonzales added.
