Mayor Celso Lobregat and Congressman Erbie Fabian yesterday spearheaded the inauguration of 3 infrastructure projects amounting to P13.1 million implemented in 3 barangays in the city’s east coast. The projects initiated by city government include the P9.5 million sports center in Cabaluay, the P600, 000 barangay hall in Toloso and the P3 million barangay hall in Guiwan.
Mayor Lobregat said the Cabaluay sports center is another example of unity and continuity, the slogan being espoused by the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) team. Because of unity among the city’s leaders, the project was initiated and partially implemented during the time of the late Mayor Maria Clara Lobregat and then Mayor and now Cong. Fabian and fully realized during the term of Mayor Celso Lobregat. Lobregat said the harmonious relationship between the city officials led to the successful implementation of the sports center. Along with Cong. Fabian, Lobregat turned over the project to the Cabaluay Barangay Council led by chairperson Elisa Deque. The Tolosa barangay hall, costing P600, 000, is a project initiated by the present administration. Lobregat said the project is proof that the city government does not neglect far flung barangays, as what his political rivals insinuate. Tolosa, a hilly village adjacent to Cacao in the east coast, is located about 20 kilometers from the highway. The barangay is a recipient of at least P9 million worth of projects since Lobregat started his term in July 2004. The project was turned over to the Tolosa Barangay Council led by Caridad Salazar during simple rite also attended, the barangay folks, City Engineer Luis Despalo and Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) candidates in District II. Meanwhile, the Guiwan barangay hall, costing P3 million, is another testimony of the present administration’s massive implementation of infrastructure projects. Guiwan Barangay Chairman Felipe Basilio expressed gratitude to the local administration for the numerous projects implemented in his barangay that helped spur development in the area. Cong. Fabian said a unified city officialdom is necessary to ensure the realization of the plans and programs of the government. As the city’s congressman, Fabian said he has been working closely with the Lobregat administration to undertake projects for the benefit of the constituents. Lobregat in his messages during the three turn over ceremonies, urged for a straight vote for the LDP party in the May 14 election. Electing into office all LDP aspirants—from the mayor, congressman, vice mayor down to the city councilors, would ensure unity and continuity of projects and programs, he said. More projects to further develop the city will be implemented under an administration that has unity among the members, Lobregat added. — AB
