by Menardo Wenceslao Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) militants are turning their violence against fellow Muslim separatists in what is viewed as an indication of ASG’s increasing isolation in the southern Philippines. A close aide of jailed Muslim Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) leader Nur Misuari was killed on 19 October on a southern Philippine island. Senior police Superintendent Ajirul Ajirim said MNLF vice-chairman Abdurahman Jamasali and his driver were walking in a village in Indanan, an MNLF stronghold on Jolo Island, when gunmen opened fire on them.
